The Scent of Water - -

- - and damp leaves, soil and smoky bonfires - - Autumn is really here - the days are shortening almost as I watch it seems - - and the days have started grey and overcast this week and then surprised me by turning into the most beautiful, crisp , sunny afternoon - - it's just a shame I have to work and can only see it out the door of the foyer. I can't even say through the window - since my office is in the internal space of the school!
Today though is one of those still grey days that this season can bring, atmosphere slightly damp, a faint smokiness in the air, an expectant feeling - yet tranqility abounds: "a season of mists & mellow fruitfulness" - I love the changing seasons!
And to day is Friday - yay - meeting friends after work for a social hour - then home with the weekend stretching before me - - - bliss!

Thanks for stopping by.

Wild weather

- - seems to have battered our shore this last week - and we seem to have had every season in one day on some days!!
I know that my island home is known to be windy - but we have never (since I came to live here anyway) had such RAIN.
The downpours have been frightening in their intensity! Water has been hammering on the skylights, both at home & at work, so hard that I was afraid the glass would shatter!
Yet it blows away as if he has never been - and we are again blessed with beautiful blue skies and scudding puffs of white fluff as the clouds skim across the blue.
The wind is shaking the tree tops and the leaves are falling in their droves - it seem autumn is already upon us and yet it feels like we have had no summer.
I am participating in Shimelle's Learn Something - - class again this year so here is one of the pages.

Bank Holiday Washout

Nice weather today here on my island - - for ducks!! I don't think it has stopped raining at all today. A wet bank holiday Monday – no surprise there then! I woke to the sound of the rain pattering on to the skylight - and it has rained all day.
Good excuse to play with crafty stuff – and I might even get to upload a few creations - but don't hold your breath!
Even in the rain my island has a special beauty - all the leaves shine as if they have been polished with Pledge. There is a definite feeling of autumn in the air now -the leaves are falling and everywhere there are berries to be seen. The hillsides are purple and gold with the heather & the gorse - their colours intensified by the rain and though I have not been further than my garden today it has been a good day.

An AllDay Crop

Yesterday my craft club had one of our allday crop/craft days. It was really lovely - very relaxed and I had a great day. For the very first time a few of our members brought their little daughters along - 5 to 7 year olds - and they were so very well behaved and delightful to have with us. Their mums deserve to be very proud of them.
We had a kit of course, with beautiful BoBunny papers - all rich autumn colours and a mini book class as well as some LO ideas and card ideas to use the papers for - I will take some photos tomorrow to upload.

The "littles" had their own kit and made mini books too - but in lovely pinks and turquoise - Abigail (age 6) said their kit was best - which really made me smile!! They worked on a theme of Friends, All About Me- or Favourites - their mums knew which kind of photos to bring and all in all had a wonderful day. I only hope the mums had as good a day - I think so as the "littles" were all sat on their own table and very soon made friends.
I have made a start on my Journal for Christmas - printed out all my numbering as this year I have gone with computer generated numbers, cut a good batch of card stock and covered my journal front cover ready for further decoration - doing a bit more later as -hopefully.
Til later. J xx
