Oriental ATCs

Have really caught this bug now!! When I was putting my stuff together for doing another of Shimelles 1000 Words books I found part of an old sheet of wrapping paper that I had kept because I liked it - it has to be at least 15 yrs old - maybe even 20!!So now I finally know why I kept it - and these are the result of cutting it up and along with a mini book of ATC paper which I have had for ages - (and don't know why I bought them when I did - because at that time I didn't know what ATCs were!! )
They are made of red card with a stamped background and then the mixture of wrapping paper and ATC images, primas & a mini button from my miniatures box.
If you would like to swap one of your ATCs for one of these please leave a comment and contact blog.

ATC Addiction

This could be a serious complaint - I just Lurve doing these little cards. Have finished my set for group 3 of the ATC swap on UKS - it has been such a lot of fun making them and I might have to get some of the proper ATC arty stuff - LOL - DH thinks I have way too much stash as it is -( he's right of course - I have :D LOL again). Here is a little peak of them.I need to get some more of the little envelopes to put them in before I send them to our host. I had a few from when I was making some very small cards for my other set.
I have tried to make these different to my set for group one and interpret the theme in a slightly different way.I have used beads, sequins, scraps and images and bits and bobs to make them. TFL

ATCs Again

Gosh I didn't realise how much fun these little cards would be!! I am on a real roll now having just completed 10 cards on the same theme. for a swap on UKS.Here are a few more of them. TFL

Wednesday -and I

have had to go in to work again today, though I was supposed to be off. Such a nuisance goodness knows when I am going to fit in some holiday time! This refurb of our classrooms and offices is really dragging on! It should be finished by now in my opinion since it was all started before TT week!! The non progress makes me think it will never be ready = they certainly would be on penalty payment for late completion in the real world!!It's doubly difficult to build the laptops for the new staff starting in September with no power!! Tant over now.

Tuesday

- - and I have a day off - guess what - it's raining! So I am scrapping instead of going out - well making ATC's actually. I have been thinking about another one of the 1000 Words albums but as I have not yet sorted out any pictures,I haven't got anywhere with it, and as I am joining in a swap on UKS - I have made my first set of ATCs for the By the Beautiful Seashore swap. I have had fun doing these sooooo much! I hope they will be OK as I am a real "newbie" where ATCs are concerned. I just hope they are up to an acceptable standard. Anyway here are the first 3 I have done.

The stripy background paper is because it reminded me of deckchairs - which were a real feature of the seashore when I was a little girl - they don't seem to have them anymore sadly I feel - but then I DO have the "Nostalgia Gene" in bucketloads!!!Any constructive critique/comments will be welcome as I am definitely on a learning curve with these little cards, and I don't have much - if any - of the "altered Art" stuff that lots of the cards I have viewed contain. I hope to upload the rest before I post them to our host.

1000 Words Album

Well the first few pages I have scanned anyway. I am enjoying this and plan to do some of the other little books Shimelle has shown as prompts for this class. This one is 8x8 - made with assorted stuff from a Chatterbox kit, home made tags, primas ( I have SO many, I really have to use them up), brads, gems and a Rhonna Farrer stamp from Autumn Leaves. The pages alternate white/cream which doesn't show very well but I am pleased with the way its turned out.

The album contains photos from our holiday to Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast, and I will be adding to the album to put more photos in of our holiday. I loved the area and will go again I hope.

Shimelles 1000 Word class

I have worked hard on this album today. I have done all the photo pages using her first prompt - now just need to do the journalling before I can post any pictures. I made a concious effort to "shop" amongst my existing stash for these albums and along with the classes on the Design Collective I am really trying to make a hole in the huge collection of papers and stuff I have!! It doesn't seem to be going down much and I am USING it I promise!

A change of craft --

Temporarily anyway. Out cam the old sewing machine this afternoon to make teddy clothes for my niece's new bear. All her class were give a "School Bear" when they left primary school this year, and he is wearing a T shirt with the school Logo on - but Imy wans him to have a full school uniform - so her mum and I made one by cutting up her old school uniform - took us all afternoon!!!! He is called Romeo - (shades of Victoria Beckham here !! LOL)but I know she will be delighted with his new outfits when her mum gives them to her. They go on holiday on Friday and she is getting them when they get on the boat - to keep her entertained for the journey.
Ages since I did any sewing - other than mending, so it made a nice change - however I do want to get back to my papers and CS!! I am doing Shimelle's new class and have got everything ready - and am itching to start!

Foot & Mouth Panic in the UK - -

- - means that the Royal Show has been cancelled!!! I am so disappointed as my friends ahd given me such a great display of stuff for the craft section - and for the first time this year there was a Scrapbooking class!! The ladies from my crop had sent some lovely LOs for it. I can't show them here sadly as I don't have their permission. Ah well maybe next year. They have even closed all the footpaths - as a precaution - but possibly they may re open later in the week - I suppose it depends on how localised the outbreak is.
It's a lovely evening as well - so we might take a walk anyway - we'll just avoid any farmland.

ATC TRADE

ON the Design Collective. I have never been one for ATCs - in fact the first I ever made was for the Mad Hatters Tea Party CyberCrop on UKS earlier this year. As we had a theme to work too - A Royal Flush - it was really helpful for a newbie like me. I made my set of cards all alike as per the swap instructions (I made Queens). This time it is slightly different and I have had to use my own ideas along with Jane's tips in the class in this weeks issue - and am now well & truly hooked!! The examples on the DC Gallery are inspiring, so I do hope there are more trades.

It has rained all day today, so it was really a day for scrapping and crafty things! It did brighten up eventually and I went out for a walk at 8pm, the wind is rising & it is quite blustery and it looks like there is still more to come as it is still very overcast, except out to the west towards Ireland. The clouds loom, vast and sinister like enormous grey peaks rising out of the sea - seemingly mean & moody then suddenly a shaft of brightness and they are outlined in shining golden light lifting them to the realms of beauty whilst the Mountains of Mourne, ethereal and shimmery in the distance have their edges painted with gold. I hve come in feeling totally uplifted - in spite of the chill in the air.

On being tagged - -

Finally found a bit of time yesterday for surfing, so was able to catch up on links in my friends blogs, and am deeply touched that my friend Scrapdolly tagged me! This will link you through to the Roberta - originator of this most prestigious award! Thanks Dolly - and to my friend Jamie who I tagged - hope this helps to explain! You Rock!

A busy day - -

getting exhibits ready for the Royal Manx Agricultural Show, which is next Friday and Saturday. My friend Brenda has persuaded the organising committee to include a scrapbooking class in the craft section for the first time this year and since she feels responsible she really wants a good showing. Our Crop members have sent or brought me LO's for the display and I have found plenty for her - thanks to the Design Collective and UKScrappers I have lots of mini albums and LO's to show!! Thanks to you all for the inspiration. I will take pics of the display and post next weekend, as our crop will have a good showing. There is also a photo display in the Craft Marquee so I have been trawling my PC today for any half decent pictures. Found one or two I am not too embarrassed by - (thanks to Cheryl's Photo Workshop for helping me to improve on my photo skills) so have spent the day printing them off and mounting them according to Brenda's instructions!! I have even managed a LO!!! and cut up some cards for the ATC class in this months classes from the Design Collective. Too dark now to post pictures but will add some tomorrow.
